Is Brandon Marshall getting a fair deal?
General August 7th, 2008It has been reported that Brandon Marshall of the Denver Broncos is facing a three game suspension for OFF the field behavior. While it is apparent the NFL is cracking down on poor off the field behavior it is also apparent that the commissioner has let the power of his position go to his head.
It is a sad state of affairs when ONE man can decide the fate of a player and therefore the fate of a team on his own. Roger Goodell has made it clear the bad off the field behavior will not be tolerated but where is due process? Just because someone has the police called on them does not mean that they did something wrong!
From most accounts the ex-girlfriend of Marshall has purposely tried to get him in trouble. It appears the main thing he has done wrong is choose the wrong women to be his girlfriend.
This is not a Adam "Pacman" Jones situation at all. If it were then we could see why Marshall would be facing a suspension.
Brandon Marshall has not been convicted of any wrong doing. He has had a few run ins with his ex-girlfriend that has led to the police being called a few times…but no violence has occurred with these incidents. So why should this young, talented, and by all accounts good kid get suspended for three games? He shouldn’t!
He has not gotten into any recent trouble and on top of that this is the FIRST time he has been called before the commissioner. A strong warning would seem to be the appropriate action here…not a three game suspension. Let’s hope the commissioner comes to his senses and does the RIGHT thing for Brandon Marshall and the Denver Broncos.
