A Summary of Terms for NBA Betting Picks
General August 26th, 2008
The NBA is comprised of 29 teams. There are four divisions included in the NBA – they are the Pacific, the Atlantic, the Midwest and the Central divisions.
The NBA betting season is from late October to April. Playoff games and final games are also a part of this betting season. You can find a game being played almost any day of the week.
There are online sites that offer online betting for the NBA season. Also offered on these sites are college basketball odds.
There are many betting terms that apply to NBA betting picks. These include – point spread, over/under wager, moneyline, proposition and point buying. These have to do with the way that your team must win and how you win.
The different types of bets are straight/side bets, totals, parlays, teasers, round robins, if bets and reverse bets. The straight/side bets are the most common form of betting and is the simplest. You pick which team will win (point spread is part of the bet). Totals are when you bet on whether the total points scored in the game are higher or lower than the posted total. Parlays and teasers bets are similar in that they are a group of straight bets or totals that are combined into a single bet. The difference in a teaser is that the line you bet against for each wager is moved to your favor by number of points in a teaser.
Round Robins, If bets and Reverse Bets are a combination of the above bets and are very common in NBA betting picks.
